RMMS Transportation Update

RMMS Transportation Update
Posted on 03/05/2021

Dear Read Mountain Parent/Guardian,

The return of all students receiving in-person instruction has resulted in an increase in car riders in both the morning and afternoon at RMMS.  In an effort to help alleviate congestion on the neighborhood roads surrounding the school we kindly ask that parents of car riders please plan for the following:

  • Arrive at the school between 8 AM and 8:20 AM to drop their child off.  During this morning drop-off, parents will not need to wait for their child's temperature to be taken.  School staff will take the student's temperature and contact the parent if the child has a fever of 100° or higher.
  • Parents picking up their child after dismissal are asked to arrive between 3:15 and 3:25 PM.  Parents arriving at 3:25 PM have a reduced wait time and have less traffic to maneuver.
  • Please plan to turn right at the stop sign at the intersection of Orchard Hill Drive and Read Mountain Road as this will prevent traffic from backing up as vehicles leave the school.

School staff will also be making some alterations to the PM car rider line to reduce the number of cars waiting on neighborhood roads prior to our 3:15 PM dismissal starting Monday, March 8.

Please see the letter attached below from BCPS Superintendent, Dr. Jonathan Russ concerning RMMS transportation.  Please contact the school directly to make any changes to your child's transportation to and from school as soon as possible.

Thank you for your support as we continue to find solutions for all the challenges this school year has presented to us.  If you have any questions or concerns, please contact the school at 540-966-8655.
